Information

Payment

A deposit of 50% must be made to secure the date of your booking. If a deposit is not made, your cake won't be either. You will be sent one reminder email if a deposit has yet to be sent. This deposit is non-refundable 6 months prior to the date you have booked the cake. The remaining balance is due one week before the cake is needed. If you fail to pail the remaining balance on time, your order will be cancelled and your deposit will be kept. If you need to change the date of your event or make minor adjustments to the cake design, Shannon will try her best to accommodate you but may not always be able to do so. At the current time, Shannon only accepts payments in the form of e-transfer sent to ShannonMCakes@Gmail.com.

Inedible Components

There are a few different types of inedible supports Shannon may use in her cakes that must be removed before the cake is served. Your cake may have a variety of inedible components such as wooden dowels, toothpicks or floral wires. Wooden dowels can be found on the inside of tiered cakes to support the weight of the cake. Toothpicks or floral wires may be used in things such as plaques or figures to ensure they stay securely on the cake during delivery. Floral wires are also used when making sugar flowers. Sugar flowers can easily be taken off of the cake and saved as a memory of your special day or thrown away if you do not wish to keep them.

Serving

If you are serving your cake the same day as pick-up or delivery, it does not need to go in the fridge. The cake will be perfectly fine at room temperature for 5-8 hours, depending on the temperature of the room. Shannon does not recommend leaving a cake outside, as the climate can affect the look or structure of the cake. If you are serving the cake the day after pick-up or delivery, it does need to go in the fridge. On the day of the event, the cake should be pulled out of the fridge no less than 2 hours before it is going to be served, as room temperature is the best way to enjoy your cake. Any leftover cake should be wrapped with plastic wrap and put in the fridge.

Delivery

You are more than welcome to pick-up your cake but once the cake has been left with the client, it is their responsibility. When driving with a cake, it is best to be placed either on a person's lap or on a flat surface, like the floor. Cakes should never be put on a seat. Failure to follow the proper delivery procedures may lead to damaging the cake. Shannon is more than happy to help you put your cake in the car, but if you do not follow her instructions, she is not liable for any damage to the cake. Delivery in Wasaga Beach is complimentary but outside of Wasaga Beach, the price of delivery is based on the location. For large wedding cakes (3+ tiers) delivery is mandatory as the cake will need to be assembled at its destination.

* Vegan cakes may contain traces of dairy as they are not made in a dairy free facility.
